Frequently asked questions.

Odour Issues?

Bathroom odours should not occur if urinals are serviced correctly. It is essential to ensure that commercial bathrooms have:

  • adequate ventilation

  • cleaning is completed regularly including floor and tile grout under and around fixtures

  • floor wastes should be primed with water or a blocking fluid (like uriLOCK)

  • that urinals are serviced and maintained according to the manufacturer’s specifications (and with the correct parts)

What are the different types of waterless urinals?

  1. Barrier seal

  2. Replaceable Cartridge and Barrier seal

  3. Bladder or mechanical seal

Deodorising Mats:

Deodorising Mats are not recommended with waterless urinals.

Urinals mats generally result in the urinals not being cleaned correctly below the line of the deodorising mat. This results in unnecessary scale build up below the urinal mat causing bad odours and potentially staining on the surface of the urinal over time.

Should my cleaners be pouring water into the waterless urinals?

NO. Waterless urinals are designed to function without water and pouring water (or strong chemicals) into the urinal is not helpful. All waterless urinals require servicing from time to time but flushing the urinals with water will only serve as ‘usage’. The urinal bowls should simply be wiped clean daily with uriCLEAN or another specialized waterless urinal cleaning solution. Beyond this, urinals will need to be serviced intermittently.

Why choose waterless urinals?

The most important reason why you would choose a waterless urinal for your amenities is that is doesn’t use any water at all. However, in addition to the water savings you can also expect to achieve the following benefits:
